Mark Polizzotti translates French literature and writes about translation. His version of Flaubert's "Sentimental Education" and his translations of Patrick Modiano have introduced these authors to new English readers. Polizzotti also wrote "Sympathy for the Traitor," a book on the art and ethics of translation, and a biography of André Breton. He directs the publications program at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
