Martin Kleppmann

German · b. 1983

Martin Kleppmann is a researcher in distributed systems at the University of Cambridge and previously built large-scale data infrastructure at LinkedIn and Rapportive. Designing Data-Intensive Applications, published in 2017, became the standard reference on the trade-offs behind databases, stream processing and consensus, and is unusual among engineering books for treating the underlying research literature as its subject rather than any particular tool. His academic work concerns collaboration software and conflict-free replicated data types.
