Michael Collins

Michael Collins was born in Ireland and raised in Chicago's South Side. "The Keepers of Truth" (2000), shortlisted for the Booker Prize, follows a newspaper reporter in a dying Illinois town investigating a father's disappearance. Collins's fiction examines the American Midwest with an immigrant's double vision—seeing both the mythology and the rust. He has also written about long-distance running and Irish-American identity.
