Michele M. Mason is Associate Professor of Japanese and Comparative Literature at the University of Maryland and a specialist in Japanese colonial literature and culture. Her research examines the intersections of imperialism, literary production, and cultural identity in Japan and its colonies during the first half of the twentieth century.
