Mikhail Lermontov was a Russian poet and novelist who, along with Pushkin, is considered one of the greatest Russian Romantic writers. His major works include the novel A Hero of Our Time and the long poem The Demon. He was killed in a duel at the age of twenty-six, and his brief career produced some of the most influential works in Russian literature.
