Chinese
Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is the pen name of a Chinese author who writes danmei, a genre of romance fiction about relationships between men. The writer publishes online and has kept personal details private. Three novels made the name internationally known: The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (Mo Dao Zu Shi), and Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu). Each began as a web serial in Chinese and was later printed in book form. All three have been adapted into audio dramas, comics, and animated or live-action series, including the television drama The Untamed and the animated series Heaven Official's Blessing. English editions from Seven Seas and other publishers have reached the New York Times bestseller list. The books combine cultivation fantasy, comedy, and long romances, and they helped bring Chinese online fiction and danmei to a wide readership outside China.
