Nan Shepherd was a Scottish novelist and poet who spent her working life as a lecturer at Aberdeen College of Education and her free time walking the Cairngorm mountains. Her three novels and The Living Mountain were largely forgotten until their rediscovery in the 1990s and 2000s.
