Naomi Alderman's "The Power" (2016) won the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction—a novel imagining women suddenly gaining the ability to generate electric shocks from their hands. Society inverts; violence changes direction. Alderman grew up in an Orthodox Jewish community in London and has written about religion and power across her fiction. She created the app Zombies, Run! Her work asks what would change if power changed hands, and what would remain the same.
