Nuruddin Farah

Nuruddin Farah is a Somali novelist who writes in English. His work explores Somali identity, politics, gender, and the effects of dictatorship, civil war, and exile. He has lived in exile from Somalia since the 1970s. His novels are organized in trilogies — Variations on the Theme of an African Dictatorship, Blood in the Sun, and Past Imperfect — that together form one of the most sustained literary examinations of a single nation.
