Peter H. Lee was Distinguished Professor of Korean and Comparative Literature at UCLA and the founding figure of Korean literary studies in the United States. His translations of Korean poetry and his editorial work on Korean literature — including the two-volume Anthology of Korean Literature and the Cambridge History — brought Korean literary culture to English-language readers for the first time at a scholarly level.
