Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus was a Greek Middle Platonist philosopher, historian, biographer, and essayist. Born in Chaeronea, he studied at the Academy in Athens and traveled widely in the Roman Empire. His Parallel Lives and Moralia are among the most widely read works from antiquity.
