Rabih Alameddine

Rabih Alameddine's "An Unnecessary Woman" (2014) was a National Book Award finalist—a novel about an aging Lebanese woman who spends her life translating great literature into Arabic for no one but herself. Alameddine was born in Jordan, raised in Kuwait and Lebanon, and lives in San Francisco. His fiction moves between the Middle East and America, finding connection through culture and loneliness.
