Randall Kenan

Randall Kenan's "If I Had Two Wings" (2020) was a finalist for the National Book Award—stories set in his fictional Tims Creek, North Carolina, a Black community in the rural South. Kenan's earlier novel "A Visitation of Spirits" (1989) established his territory. He taught at UNC Chapel Hill until his death in 2020.
