Rebecca West was a British author, journalist, literary critic, and travel writer whose career spanned most of the twentieth century. Her works include the novel The Return of the Soldier, the legal journalism of The Meaning of Treason, and the monumental travel book Black Lamb and Grey Falcon. She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1959.
