Richard Flanagan

Richard Flanagan won the Booker Prize in 2014 for "The Narrow Road to the Deep North," a novel about Australian prisoners of war building the Burma Railway. Flanagan's father survived that railway; the novel took twelve years to write. The Tasmanian author has also written about environmentalism, his native island, and a forger who became a folk hero.
