Scholastique Mukasonga

Scholastique Mukasonga is a Rwandan-French writer who survived the 1994 genocide in which twenty-seven members of her family were killed. Her autobiographical and fictional works — including Cockroaches, Our Lady of the Nile, and The Barefoot Woman — bear witness to Tutsi life before and during the genocide. She writes in French and lives in France.
