Lucius Annaeus Seneca was a Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, dramatist, and tutor to the emperor Nero. His philosophical works — including Letters from a Stoic, On the Shortness of Life, and On Anger — are among the most widely read texts of ancient Stoicism. He was forced to commit suicide by Nero in 65 CE.
