Stephen Owen is James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University and the foremost American scholar of classical Chinese poetry. His studies of Tang and early poetry, his translations of Du Fu, and his theoretical work on Chinese lyric have defined the field in English for four decades. He is the author of numerous critical volumes including The Great Age of Chinese Poetry: The High T'ang.
