Steven Long Mitchell is an American television writer and producer. With his longtime partner Craig W. Van Sickle, he created the NBC drama The Pretender, which ran from 1996 to 2000 and followed Jarod, a genius who can take on any profession. The pair also wrote and produced the two TNT television movies that continued the story in 2001. Mitchell and Van Sickle worked on other series, including Profiler and Jericho, and wrote for the series MacGyver. In 2013 they returned to The Pretender with the novel Rebirth, published by Telemachus Press, the first in a planned series meant to answer questions the show left open. Their work is known mainly to television audiences and to the fans who kept asking for more of Jarod's story.
