Svetlana Alexievich won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2015 for "her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time." The Belarusian author creates documentary literature from hundreds of interviews—survivors of Chernobyl, Soviet women soldiers, children of the Afghan war. "Voices from Chernobyl" and "The Unwomanly Face of War" give voice to those history usually silences.
