Tash Aw won the Whitbread First Novel Award for "The Harmony Silk Factory" (2005), a novel about Malaysia's twentieth-century history. The Malaysian-British author has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize; "The South" (2024) continues his investigation of Southeast Asian lives across borders.
