Tom Wolfe

American · 1930–2018

Tom Wolfe's "A Man in Full" (1998) was a finalist for the National Book Award—a novel satirizing Atlanta's elite. Wolfe pioneered New Journalism before turning to fiction; "The Bonfire of the Vanities" (1987) became the quintessential 1980s novel. His white suits were as famous as his prose.
