Tommy Orange's "There There" (2018) was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize—a debut following twelve characters to a powwow in Oakland. Orange is a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. "Wandering Stars" (2024) continues his investigation of urban Native life. His fiction brings Indigenous experience into literary fiction with formal invention.
