William Hope Hodgson was a British author of horror, fantastic fiction, and science fiction. His novels — The House on the Borderland, The Night Land, and The Boats of the 'Glen Carrig' — combine supernatural horror with cosmic vision. He was killed in action during World War I at the age of forty.
