Yaa Gyasi

Yaa Gyasi's "Homegoing" (2016) follows two half-sisters and their descendants across three centuries—one line sold into slavery, one remaining in Ghana. The debut won acclaim for its scope and structure. Gyasi was born in Ghana and raised in Alabama. Her second novel, "Transcendent Kingdom" (2020), examines addiction and faith through a Ghanaian American family.
