Import your Goodreads library
Export your Goodreads library as a CSV and ReadingRate reads the whole file: titles, authors, ISBNs, your star ratings, your reviews, the dates you read, and which shelf each book sat on. Read, currently reading, to read and did-not-finish each become a status here. Books the catalogue doesn't have are created rather than dropped. The import runs in the background so you can close the page, and it's free with any account, on the web and in the iOS app.

The export is the one genuinely good thing about leaving Goodreads: a single file with years of reading in it. Reading that file directly is the difference between moving and starting again, and starting again is why most people never move.
Books already in the catalogue are matched and linked. Books that aren't are created from what the CSV knows — title, author, publisher, page count, publication year — with an estimated difficulty until the book is properly analysed. Nothing is silently discarded for being obscure.
The page walks you through the export itself, because Goodreads hides it: request the file, wait for the email, upload what arrives.
What it can't do
- Ratings and reviews transfer only for books you marked read. A rating on a book still in progress is not carried over.
- Only the exclusive shelf becomes a status. Custom shelves, private notes, read counts, owned-copy flags and spoiler marks are not imported.
- To-read books arrive with that status but are not added to your reading queue. You choose what goes in that.
- Matching is by title and author, so a book with a very common title can attach to the wrong one. Matches are to the work, not to the edition on your shelf.
- One import runs at a time per account, and a book created from the CSV carries estimated page and word counts until it is enriched properly.
