Earl Lovelace is a Trinidadian novelist, playwright, and short story writer whose work celebrates and interrogates the culture and politics of Trinidad. His novels, including The Dragon Can't Dance and Salt, are rooted in the rhythms of calypso, Carnival, and the oral traditions of the Caribbean poor.
