Kate Atkinson won the 1995 Whitbread Book of the Year for her debut "Behind the Scenes at the Museum" and has written both literary fiction and crime novels starring Jackson Brodie. "Life After Life" imagined a woman living and dying repeatedly through the twentieth century. The British author demonstrates that genre boundaries need not constrain literary ambition. Her work combines entertainment with serious examination of time, history, and chance.
