Richard Powers has won the Pulitzer Prize twice—for "The Overstory" (2018), a novel about trees and the humans who love them, and for "Bewilderment" (2021), about a father and neurodivergent son facing environmental collapse. Powers writes about science with novelistic depth: artificial intelligence, music cognition, genetics. "The Echo Maker" (2006) won the National Book Award. His sentences are long; his ambitions are longer.
