Ruth Prawer Jhabvala won the Booker Prize in 1975 for "Heat and Dust," a novel comparing a modern Englishwoman in India with her step-grandmother's colonial-era affair. She also won two Academy Awards for screenplays with Merchant Ivory. She died in 2013.
