Tayari Jones's "An American Marriage" (2018) won the Women's Prize for Fiction—a novel about a young Black couple torn apart when the husband is wrongfully imprisoned. Jones writes about race and love in contemporary America with emotional precision. She teaches creative writing at Emory University.
