Wilson Harris was a Guyanese novelist and essayist whose visionary fiction reimagined the novel form through the landscapes and histories of the Caribbean and South America. His work, including the Guyana Quartet, influenced postcolonial literature and magical realism. He worked as a land surveyor in the Guyanese interior before turning to writing full-time.
